Dons must not let their talents go to waste

It would be a waste of talent if Dons weren’t fighting for automatic promotion, according to Chelsea loanee Lewis Baker.

The England U20 skipper was one of many stand-out performers in the comfortable 2-0 win over Scunthorpe on Tuesday night, dominating the midfield along with Samir Carruthers, Dele Alli and Rob Hall.

Baker, who has scored twice in his time on loan at stadium:mk, could even have added to the scoreline, but saw his fierce drive tipped onto the crossbar by keeper Luke Daniels.

With Dons now just five points behind Preston in the second automatic promotion spot, Baker feels they’re perfectly placed to take the fight to the Lilywhites.

“It’s what all the boys hope to do,” he said.

“We’ve got such a great team that it’d be a waste not to fight for promotion.

“All we can do is carry on doing what we’re doing.

“The boys have loads of confidence at the moment, the subs included.

“Our togetherness is great and that’s helping us at the moment.

“The Swindon result was a bonus for us, but we’re just focussing on Preston, and take it a game at a time.”
