Karl Robinson has moved swiftly to replace Patrick Bamford, signing striker Chris Long on loan from Everton.
The 18-year-old comes on an initial one-month deal, which is set to expire on February 8.
Long is already an England U20 international, and has been associated with Everton since he was five-years-old, signing his first professional contract with the club in July last year.
Although yet to make a first team appearance for the Toffees, Long has been in good form for the U21s, scoring five times in 11 outings for Alan Stubbs’ side.
“I’ve known Chris since he was seven,” said Robinson. “He’s somebody who has always been high on our list of potential targets. He’s only young at 18 years of age but he’s talented, he’s quick and I know he’s somebody who The FA speak very highly of.
“We’re thankful to Roberto Martinez and Alan Stubbs at Everton for allowing us this opportunity to work with and develop Chris and hopefully we can do that for them.”
