Dons tipped to secure the signing of Stevenage defender

The 30-year-old centre-back was a regular in League One last season

MK Dons are on the brink of their first summer signing with former Stevenage defender Charlie Goode reported to be close to signing for the club.

The 30-year-old centre-back is fresh off Boro’s play-off semi-final defeat to Stockport County last month, missing out on the chance to go to Wembley and the Championship.

Following the end of the season though, Goode was offered a contract to remain at the club but it appears he is close to joining Dons.

Goode began his professional career with Scunthorpe United in 2015, where he would go on to make 85 appearances at Glanford Park before moving to Northampton Town.

Two years at Sixfields in League Two earned him a move up to the Championship with Brentford, where he was a part of the squad which secured promotion to the Premier League. Making six appearances in the top flight, he spent time on loan with Sheffield United, Blackpool and Wigan before moving to the Lamex Stadium in 2024.

Establishing himself as a regular at Stevenage, Goode broke his leg in his first season but still made 69 appearances for the club. And despite being offered a contract to remain in Hertfordshire, he appears set on a move to MK1.

Dons would be in the market for a centre-back, following the departures of Luke Offord and Laurence Maguire this summer, leaving them with three senior players in that position - Marvin Ekpiteta, Jack Sanders and Curtis Nelson.
