MK Dons will take on Reading at the Madejski Stadium in the second round of the EFL Cup.
Karl Robinson’s side were drawn against Championship opposition in the draw taking place on Wednesday night.
Dons booked their spot in the second round after a dramatic comeback against League 2’s Newport County.
Despite fielding a side with the average age of just 19, Dons came from 2-0 down at Rodney Parade to win 3-2, with two goals from substitute Dean Bowditch either side of a Ben Tilney cracker on his debut for the club.
Jaap Stam’s side booked their place in the second round draw with a 2-0 win over League 2’s Plymouth on Tuesday night.
The Royals went ahead when Joey van den Berg converted after 16 minutes, and Roy Beerens doubled the lead 12 minutes later, continuing Stam’s perfect start to life as manager of Reading.
The second round games will be played in the week commencing August 22.
