Former Dons striker Benik Afobe admitted couldn’t turn down the ‘amazing opportunity’ offered to him by his new employers Wolves.
The 21-year-old signed for Wolverhampton Wanderers on Wednesday in a deal believed to be in the region of £3 million from Arsenal, having spent the first half of the season on loan at stadium:mk.
Afobe scored 19 goals in 30 appearances for Karl Robinson’s side, including braces against AFC Wimbledon and Manchester United and a hat-trick against Colchester.
Taking to Twitter, Afobe said it was a life-changing decision to sign for the Championship side, but will look back on his time with Dons fondly.
“To all my MK Dons fans, I understand if you feel confused about this move as you expected me to complete the season. However, it this a difficult career and life changing decision I had to make and I couldn’t turn down the amazing opportunity Wolves offered.
“MK Dons will always have a special place in my heart and I believe they have the talent to get promoted this season, so good luck!”
