Karl Robinson has asked fans to give Sam Baldock the welcome he deserves as he returns to stadium:mk for the first time since his transfer in 2011.
The 24-year-old, now at Bristol City, is still well remembered in the Cowshed, and his former manager wants him to remember his time at the club fondly upon his return this Saturday.
“He’s an icon at this club,” said Robinson.
“He didn’t turn his back on the club, and he’s a friend of the club. He helped us get the fee we got.
“It will be a pleasure and an honour to play against a side which he’ll be captain of.
“I hope the fans give him the reception he deserves.
“But once the game starts though, he becomes our enemy.”
Robinson also hinted that Baldock would be keen to make a return to stadium:mk not as an opposition player, but as a Dons player in the future.
He said: “As a manager I wanted to keep him, but I couldn’t stop him. Sam Allardyce was in the crowd and wanted him.
“He’ll play for us again. This club is close to his heart and he had a lot of respect for everyone at the club.”
