Home hat-trick is something special says Alli

He may have already scored a hat-trick in his short career, but Dele Alli says his trio against Crewe Alexandra is his favourite.

The 18-year-old was the star man in the 6-1 thumping of the Alex, not just for his three goals, but also turning provider for Benik Afobe’s goal.

Last season, Alli netted his first hat-trick against Notts County on a cold Tuesday night at Meadow Lane.

But on a warm Saturday afternoon at stadium:mk, Alli said doing it at home means more to him.

He said: “It was nice to get a hat-trick before, my first one, but it was great to get one at stadium:mk. I want to thank all the players who played a part. This is my favourite one.”

It capped a magnificent week for the midfield ace. Having signed a new contract on Thursday, Alli was named Young Player of the Month of August on Friday.

Alli is now up to six goals for the season, one behind Benik Afobe and one ahead of Will Grigg. With 12 goals scored in a week, and from six different scorers, Alli has praised the team for being able to score from everywhere on the pitch.

He said: “It’s nice to get the goals, but we got the win. It’s a big credit to everyone that we can come out and put in a performance like that.

“It’s nice to share the goals out, and for players all over the pitch to score. We showed today, like we did last week against Barnsley where we had five different scorers, we showed we can score from anywhere, and each player can score.”

Alli, who was born and raised in Milton Keynes, capped an impressive week with his hat-trick. On Thursday, he signed a new deal at stadium:mk and he was named Young Player of the Month for August on Friday.

His new deal keeps him at the club until 2017 - a club which he says is very close to his heart.

“It’s an important place to me, growing up here and seeing how the club has developed.

“The chairman wants to see the club go forward, and the manager that knows how to develop the team from last season. Hopefully it’ll be a good season for us.”

And he hopes that good season will see a dream achieved.

“I think promotion. Simple as that. We’re a very strong team, and if we can keep working hard, and put things right, anything can happen.

“It’d be a dream come true. Since I signed, it’s all I’ve wanted. This season, I think it’s possible.”
