MK Dons are close to seeing some players return from injury, but not quite in time to face Tranmere Rovers at the weekend.
Defenders Sam Sherring and Nico Lawrence have been sidelined for a long spell, while strikers Callum Hendry and Matt Dennis have also missed the last few weeks. Joe Pritchard has only played 45 minutes of competitive football since signing for the club in the summer from Accrington, while Kane Thompson-Sommers also has only featured once since joining on deadline day.
But while Dons look set to name an unchanged side to the one which thrashed Harrogate Town 5-1 in the week, head coach Lindsey is hopeful to get a few bodies back in time for the Bristol Street Motors Trophy game next Tuesday against Arsenal.
He said: “There are still one or two in the treatment room, and it will take time with some of them too, so we're not at a full compliment yet.
“There will be players coming back next Tuesday, which is pleasing, so there might be an opportunity for them to get minutes but there will also be one or two who won't be ready. It's obviously frustrating, we want them on the pitch and to be a part of what we're doing but we know the medical team are working hard in the background to make it happen, sooner rather than later.”
Taking on Nigel Adkins’ Tranmere Rovers on Saturday, Lindsey expects an aggressive opposition taking on his side at Stadium MK.
“It will be a tough game,” he continued. “I like Nigel a lot, he's a very experienced manager, we've always had good conversations. They've got some good players, and a really aggressive way of playing. If we play well, stick to our plan, I'm sure it will be ok.
“Everyone has different ways of attacking, and I know they will ask different questions of us. They've got some good players, some not even in the squad, sitting in the stands or on the bench. I know what they are capable so we'll have to be on it and play our style.”
