Lindsey reflects on his MK Dons stint ahead of reunion at Crawley

The Crawley boss spoke ahead of Tuesday night’s game against his former side MK Dons

Scott Lindsey was philosophical on his five months at MK Dons ahead of a reunion against his former club on Tuesday night.

The Crawley Town boss started brightly after taking over from Mike Williamson last October, but a torrid run in the New Year cost him his job in March. Swiftly finding employment again though back on his old stomping ground, he was unable to keep the Reds in League One.

Facing Dons for the first time since his departure, Lindsey was swift in his description of his time at MK1, saying: “It was five months of learning. That’s how I reflect on it.”

Since his departure, Lindsey admitted he has not looked too deeply at the exploits of his former club other than in preparation for Tuesday’s game, but from what he has seen of Paul Warne’s side he believes they will be a big challenge for his team.

He said: “I’ve watched them as a team, but I've not really looked at the ins and outs of their team. They’ve signed some unbelievable players for the level, the recruitment is far above this level. And they’ve got the money so fair play to them.

“We want to challenge ourselves against good teams, and obviously they are a good team. We take the challenge on and look forward to the game.

“They haven’t conceded a goal yet which is impressive in the three league games they’ve played. Also, their xG, no-one has had a good chance against them. They don’t give you many opportunities, so they’re really good at that.

“And they have good attacking threats - Rushian, who we know, scored on Saturday. They have a lot of threats, and they have players in the middle of the park who we know can run, can handle the ball, so they’re a good team.”

On his own side ahead of the game, he added: “The feeling is OK in the camp, you wouldn’t think we’ve lost three games. We know we should have potentially four on the board and not zero, but football doesn’t always go the way you want it to. We’ll keep together, keep believing and keep fighting.”
