DONS’ 14-year-old Academy star Seyi Ojo has completed a move to Liverpool for an undisclosed fee.
The midfielder has spent four years in Milton Keynes, but after attracting the attention of Premier League clubs, Dons have allowed the England U16 international to leave stadium:mk for the Liverpool Academy.
Ojo has been capped twice by his country in Victory Sheild matches against Northern Ireland and Wales in October, and was subject to bids from Chelsea before Liverpool also began to show an interest.
Dons chairman Pete Winkelman said: “This is an opportunity of a lifetime for Seyi and his parents which has proved far too difficult to turn down.
“There has been a lot of interest and speculation regarding Seyi which he has coped with admirably.
“We are extremely proud to have Seyi in our record books as our first schoolboy to receive an international cap. Everyone at the club would like to wish Seyi the best of luck in his future and we all look forward to the day he runs out an Anfield.”
Dons remain very tight-lipped over the details of the transfer, but have confirmed that a fee has been received. Reports in October suggested that Liverpool and Chelsea were prepared to spend as much as £2 million on Ojo, who is considered to be one of the hottest prospects in English football.
