IT seems likely Mark Beevers has played his last game for MK Dons as his loan spell looks set to expire without the chance of an extension.
The 22-year-old has been a solid performer since joining Dons in August. But with his parent club Sheffield Wednesday among Dons’ biggest promotion challengers, Gary Megson is thought to want to keep Beevers, rather than loaning him back to stadium:mk for the rest of the season.
Robinson said he’d love to keep hold of the defender, who has made 14 appearances for Dons, and that Beevers would love to stay too.
“I don’t think Sheffield Wednesday will let it happen and I don’t blame them because we’re all fighting for the same position.
“Mark Beevers has been excellent,” he said. “I’d love to keep him but we haven’t got the financial strength to lure him here.
“He’s been a great servant for us while he has been here, and I know he wants to stay.
“I had to make the decision as to whether or not play him until he leaves in January or do it now to see how Mathias Doumbe and the back four cope. Doumbe coming in was exceptional and that shows our strength in depth.”
