It’s an all-League One clash at Stadium MK this evening when MK Dons take on Morecambe in the third round of the Carabao Cup.

Liam Manning’s side beat Sutton United and Watford en route to the third round, while Morecambe have seen off two Championship sides in the form of Stoke City and Rotherham.

It has been a long time since the second round - almost two months in fact - and neither side have had glowing times of it since. Both are in the bottom four of the league, and both have sat at the foot of the pile too.

Since their win over the Millers, Morecambe have won just twice. They head to Stadium MK without a win in their last three, exiting the FA Cup on Saturday at the hands of Sheffield Wednesday.

Dons meanwhile have turned something of a corner recently, winning two of their last three, including a 6-0 thumping of Taunton Town to book their spot in the second round of the FA Cup. They’re also awaiting their opponents in the Papa John’s Trophy knock-out stage.

The sides met earlier this season at the Globe Arena, where Dons ran riot in a 4-0 win, with Will Grigg bagging a brace in Lancashire in August. In seven meetings between the sides, Dons have won on five occasions, to Morecambe’s one, with a single draw.

Should the scores be level after 90 minutes, the game will go straight to a penalty shoot-out to decide who progresses.

Bookmakers have Dons at 7/10 to progress into the fourth round, while Morecambe are 4/1, with 11/4 the draw after 90 minutes.
