More hamstring woes at MK Dons with Collar now out until March
The midfielder is set to be out until around March 2026
Midfielder Will Collar is set to be sidelined for three months after becoming the latest MK Dons player to suffer a hamstring injury.
The 28-year-old pulled up after a back heel in the 1-0 win over Swindon Town on Boxing Day, with his diagnosis coming later in the week to reveal the bad news.
“It’s disappointing news for Will, he has a severe hamstring injury,” head coach Paul Warne confirmed. “I don’t know if it needs surgery but the initial prognosis is that he will be out for up to 12 weeks. That’s a lot of games at a crucial time. His rehab will mirror Mendez’s pretty much.
“It was innocuous. I don’t know whether he was tightening up prior to the back heel, but you’ll do well to pull it to the extent he has doing that. Injuries are always frustrating.”
Collar is the latest to suffer with a hamstring issue in the Dons squad this term, with Gethin Jones, Aaron Collins, Laurence Maguire and Nathaniel Mendez-Laing also having been sidelined with the same injury.
Asked why the trend appears to be prevalent at Stadium MK, Warne said: “I wish I had an answer, if I did I’d be a wealthy man. There are a lot of muscular injuries throughout the leagues at the moment, not just us. I can speak for every manager at this time of year, you’re just waiting for the window to open to restock.”
