Josh Murphy said he jumped at the opportunity to join MK Dons on a season-long loan from Norwich City.
The 20-year-old netted the extra time winner against Cardiff City on Tuesday night on his debut to send Dons through to the third round of the Capital One Cup.
Having burst onto the scene as an 18-year-old with the Canaries, Murphy felt he should be playing more regularly, and jumped at the chance to play at stadium:mk.
“I know Dele Alli and Lewis Baker, and both had brilliant things to say about the club,” said Murphy. “It’s a good footballing side, and I liked to watch them on TV demolishing teams!
“When I heard they were interested, it was a no brainer and I said ‘yeah, let’s do it. I want to go there.’
“There are no cliques here, everyone is tight.”
And while he was relieved to net the winner for Dons on Tuesday, Murphy said he had another weight on his mind when he scored.
He said: “People were giving me a bit of grief after my brother scored the other day! I needed to get on the scoresheet, so that was brilliant.”
