Two former MK Dons players have proven to be in form this week overseas, included in the IsuzuUTE A-League Fantasy Team of the Week.

Both Scott Wootton and Jay O’Shea were named as two of the top performers in Australia and New Zealand for their performances over the weekend.

Former Leeds defender Wootton spent two seasons at Stadium MK after leaving Leeds in the summer of 2016, but a knee injury limited his opportunities in the first of those years. Departing Milton Keynes after the club was relegated in 2018, Wootton now lines up for Wellington Phoenix.

And after an opening day draw with Western Sydney, Wootton’s performance in the goal-less draw helped his side to a clean sheet, picking up valuable fanatasy league points along the way.

Irishman O’Shea scored eight goals in 58 appearances for Dons between 2011 and 2013, but after spells at Chesterfield and Bury, moved to Brisbane in the summer of 2019 where he now enters his fifth season at the Suncorp Stadium.

O’Shea netted the Roar’s equaliser in a 1-1 draw with Macarthur on Saturday to earn himself a spot in the top scorers of the week too.

Unfortunately for former Dons boss Mark Jackson, it was defeat for his Central Coast Mariners in their opening day game against Adelaide United on Friday night, as they went down 3-0 away from home.
