MK Dons will continue their Championship adventure on Saturday with their first competitive meeting against Reading at the Madejski Stadium.
The sides have only ever met in a pre-season friendly in 2008, with the Royals running out of stadium:mk 2-1 winners on a day Leroy Lita had to be withdrawn from the game after an altercation with keeper Willy Gueret almost saw the striker sent off.
Reading, like Tuesday night’s opponents Bolton, have boasted Premier League status in their not too distant past, but are still seeking their first win of the new season.
Steve Clarke’s side lost 2-1 to Birmingham City on the opening day of the season, before a 0-0 draw with Leeds and a heartbreaking 1-1 draw with Sheffield Wednesday on Wednesday night, which saw a clanger from keeper Jonathan Bond gift the Owls an equaliser deep into stoppage time.
It leaves the Royals down in 18th with two points.
Daniel Powell scored the only goal of the game to see off Bolton Wanderers 1-0 at stadium:mk on Tuesday night as Dons returned to winning ways, having lost to Preston three days earlier to the same scoreline.
Karl Robinson’s side have adapted well to life in the second tier and see themselves fourth in the table, but will be keen to see strikers Sam Gallagher and Simon Church find the back of the net - neither of which have been able to do so so far.
