Karl Robinson has dared to dream about what may happen on Sunday but feels the reality will be even better if they get promoted.
Dons take on Yeovil at stadium:mk, knowing if they better Preston’s result at Colchester, they’ll win automatic promotion with the last gasp.
Preston though are undefeated since January 31 and carry the advantage going into the final day of the season, leading Dons by a point, meaning fate is in their hands.
And although Robinson would happily swap places with Simon Grayson’s side going into the season crescendo, he says the reality of winning promotion will surpass any dreams people have been having.
We’ve all had the dream, but it’s a dream. But the reality will feel so much better.
“I’d rather be in Preston’s boat because it’s in their hands. We just need to keep doing the right things.
“With a game to go - what a year. We’re all tired, we’re all stressed and we’re all ready for a break, but we’ve still got a lot of football to play.
“In the context of this season, we’ll back ourselves to go out there and win it.”
“Come Sunday, it’ll all be done and dusted, and they’ll know either way.”
Dons go into the game having netted 96 goals in League 1 this season. Having already broken the club’s biggest win record twice so far, having kept more clean sheets and scored more points than in any other season, Robinson has his sights set on netting 100 in a regular season, sending a warning to Yeovil that Dons will hold nothing back.
“To break Roberto di Matteo’s points scoring record was something we wanted to do. I wanted to do it during my tenure, and it’d be nice to get 100 goals in the season, and the clean sheet record has already gone this season.
“We’ll go for it on Sunday.”
