Karl Robinson has taken a unique approach to this Friday’s replayed FA Cup second round tie with Chesterfield by naming his starting 11 early.
The Dons boss reeled off his team on Tuesday morning, and said he’d already planned teams to take Scunthorpe - if they see off Chesterfield - and Crawley a week later.
There will be five changes to the team which started in the 3-0 defeat at home to Walsall on Sunday, with fringe players ready to step into the breach.
George Baldock, Mark Randall and Danny Green will be among the players coming in, while Dele Alli will be rested until the trip to the Broadfield Stadium on January 10 .
There is still a bone of contention about Friday’s replayed game, and Robinson admits his side could do without it after a hectic Christmas period.
“We’ve played this game already,” said Robinson. “But if we win, we’re playing again on Tuesday before the Crawley game on the Saturday.
“We’re trying to give the players a rest. The players are knackered.
“We’re concentrating on the league. If we go to Crawley and lose, people will ask us why.
“We have to make sure we get it right. Crawley is our priority.
“We’ve picked the three teams, and we’ll try and win the game.
“We have to respect the FA because they’re the governing body and this is what they’ve chosen to do.”
MK Dons team to face Chesterfield: Martin, Baldock, Spence, McFadzean, Lewington, Potter, Randall, Green, Bowditch, Powell, Afobe.
