Striker Healey agrees contract termination at Huddersfield Town

Dons’ former top-scorer is a free agent

Striker Rhys Healey has been released by Huddersfield Town after two-and-a-half years at the club.

The ex-MK Dons striker made just 22 appearances for the Yorkshire club, with the last of them coming in February 2025.

He spent the first-half of last season on loan at Barrow but made just one 16-minute cameo off the bench in August.

Healey was a hugely popular player during his two spells at MK Dons. Initially, having joined in 2018 on loan from Cardiff City, he scored nine goals in 21 appearances before being recalled by his parent club. He then made the move back to the city a permanent one in 2019 and though injury delayed the start for his new club, he finished the curtailed 19/20 campaign as top-scorer with 12 goals in 20 outings.

A big money move followed that summer, which saw Healey move to Toulouse, where his goals helped the side to secure promotion to Ligue 1.

He returned to English shores in 2023 before joining Huddersfield six months later.

Upon his release, the Terriers said: “The forward’s contract with the club was due to conclude at the end of the upcoming 2026/27 season.

“However, the decision has been mutually agreed to part ways in advance of that previously stated expiration, with Healey now free to explore other opportunities as a free agent.

“All at Huddersfield Town wish Rhys the very best for the future.”
