With the club finishing the lowest they ever have, it’s a far cry from the promotion aspirations they set out at the start of the season.
There was a lot of gloom, there was a lot of doom, a lot of games, and most of them we’d all like to forget. But there were some lighter moments too, some which didn’t make the headlines.
And of course, they’re my rules, so I’m giving myself an award.

13. 'Misfortune' Award
Not that I'd specifically planned to miss the Barrow away game but I had plans that weekend, honest guv. When I got the call to say the game was off though, and that I would in fact be heading Holker Street after all, and this time on a Tuesday night, well, that just took the jam out of my doughnut. Shout out to Paul Dixon though who made it to within an hour of the ground before the game got called off. My awards, my rules, I'm getting a trophy. | Getty Images

14. 'Unbelievable timing' Award
Dons have a way of coinciding their major announcements at the most inconvenient of times for me. Tattoo chair, boarding a train, 20km from home on a bike, the gym etc. While an honorary mention goes to Paul Warne's appointment forcing my to miss physiotherapy on my back, the sacking of Scott Lindsey takes the crown. I was en route to my friend's 40th birthday party at a beer brewery, but had the inkling to bring the laptop in case. Screeching to a halt somewhere near Bicester, I had to fire up and scribble in the back of the car, before trying to stay sober enough to press the publish button when the time came. | Getty Images

15. 'Confusing car ride home' Award
We went mob-handed to Colchester for the Trophy game, with half-an-eye on the rumours linking Mike Williamson with a move to Carlisle. 'Surely not' we thought on the way there. The demeanour of everyone Dons related in Essex though made us feel like we'd got this completely wrong. Speaking to Mike for what turned out to be the last time, we got back in the car and the drive back was all of a sudden a bit more perplexed. 'Surely not' turned into 'but... what?!' | Jane Russell

16. '1-11' Award
Mr MK Dons has hung up his boots at last (well, we'll believe it when we see it). What a career, what a servant to the club, what a captain, what a player, what a legend. His little girls can be very proud of their dad. Because number one is Lewington. And number two is Lewington. And number three... | Jane Russell
