VIDEO: Fans queue for MK Dons vs Manchester United tickets

Tension had reached fever pitch by 8am on Tuesday morning as tickets went on general sale for MK Dons vs Manchester United next week.

The Capital One Cup second round match at stadium:mk is expected to sell out, with 29,000 tickets going on sale.

By 7.30pm, the queue went back and forth three times in front of the box office before passing back by the club shop, along the side of the Arena, around the back, around the pathway and to the zebra crossing to Asda - an estimated 1,500 people desperate for tickets for the biggest game in Dons’ history.

Ray Butler and his friends were at the front of the queue, having camped out since midnight.

“We’re all United fans,” he admitted. “We got here at midnight last night. The two lads had tents but we slept in the car. We’re season ticket holders at Old Trafford, but in case we don’t get a ticket, which we might do, we though we’d get a ticket here.

“I’ve never been here before, but it looks a very good stadium - Premier League quality.

“There were maybe 10-20 with us last night. It started to get a bit busier at about 4am, when we joined the boys who were saving the spot.

“It’s a massive game for the club, and a massive money earner. It’s a family club, here, so there might be a few United fans in there, but there won’t be any trouble.”
