Warne urges MK Dons to go back-to-back with win in Blackpool
The MK Dons boss looked ahead to Tuesday night’s clash with Blackpool
How quickly form can change is certainly no news to MK Dons boss Paul Warne, but he hopes his side can continue to build against an out-of-sorts Blackpool on Tuesday night.
Ian Evatt’s side have picked up just a point from their last six games in League One, and haven’t won since August as they have slid down the League One pecking order. Dons meanwhile have similarly struggled for wins, drawing six out of eight prior to Saturday’s 2-1 win over Luton, their first league win of the season.
It was a win which has lifted Warne’s men above the Tangerines heading into the game at Bloomfield Road but they remain a long way from where the head coach idealised at the start of the campaign.
Keen to get the season back on track, Warne said: “We enjoyed the win, and it has given the dressing room a massive boost but if you’re going to be successful, it’s about getting back-to-back results.
“We’ve got a few tired and injured bodies in, so whether the team can look similar to how it did on Saturday we’ll have to wait and see. Everyone is working hard, we’re prepped for the game.
“I’ve played against Ian’s teams a lot, so it’s no advantage because it means he’s played a lot against me too! As always, we’ll be going there for three points.
“They’re a good team, they move the ball well, they’re a really good footballing side.”
No stranger himself to League One, Warne said this season, having thrown up some surprising and anomalous results already in the opening two-and-a-half months, is tighter than he has ever known it to be, with every side offering a significant threat.
He continued: “What I’ve noticed about League One so far though is that it feels like everyone has weaponed up, everyone seems a lot stronger than last season, and plenty of other managers have agreed. Anyone on their day can beat anyone.
“This seems the tightest League One I’ve been involved in, so we’ll have to be at our best to get something on the road.”
