The Tranmere Rovers goalkeeper spoke ahead of tomorrow’s game against MK Dons

Goalkeeper Luke McGee hopes Tranmere Rovers have turned a corner after ending a run of back-to-back defeats with back-to-back draws ahead of their trip to MK Dons on Saturday.

Losing 3-0 on the road to both Gillingham and Colchester, Nigel Adkins’ side held both Salford and Swindon to draws at Prenton Park, and sit 17th in League Two ahead of their visit to Stadium MK.

Keeper McGee, 29, said the morale is good in the squad after ending their run of defeats, but admits being four without a win is the next monkey they need to get off their backs.

“You could say we've steadied the ship after losing two games in a row, then getting two draws,” he said. “We stop that rut of losing games, but we've not won a game in four now. We're always looking at that.

“Table-wise, we're not looking at it until 15-20 games in. There are always two ways of looking at it, but I think we know where we should be and where we want to be.”

Taking on Dons in Scott Lindsey’s first home game in charge of the team since taking over last week, McGee said Tranmere would be sticking to their guns and not changing the way they play in order to counter Dons’ possession-based approach.

He said: “We're excited for the game. We know what they're about, they're possession-based. The gaffer doesn't look at how teams play and set up based on them.

“We know what we can do, the positives we have and it's about pushing it through. Football is about taking chances, keeping it out of one net and putting it in the other.

“It's a lovely stadium and a nice pitch but it's just 11 players playing another 11 players trying to win.”

Manager Adkins added: “It will be a tough game. Scott did really well at Crawley. They play a really easy-on-the-eye style, they're very possession-based. We will have to work really hard to get the ball off them, and we'll have work really hard on it to be effective with it."
