Carlton Morris believes the partnership between himself and Rhys Healey can help MK Dons towards the sharp end of League One next season.

The duo scored eight goals in 10 games together before the season was curtailed in March as Dons put room between themselves and the relegation zone.

With Morris renewing his loan deal with Russell Martin's side for the new campaign, the 24-year-old hopes his familiarity with Healey's game will help the duo thrive.

"It's always nice to have a good relationship with your striker partner," said Morris. "Me and Rhys have that on and off the pitch, and I hope we can continue that next season. We've linked up a lot in pre-season and training matches. I've really enjoyed playing alongside him and long may that continue."

There are just two weeks before the new season kicks off with a home clash against Coventry City in the Carabao Cup - the same opponents Morris made a scoring start to life with Dons back in January - and though results have been nothing to write home about during their pre-season fixtures so far, the striker believes the team is on the up.

He said: "I'm excited to see where we can go. The gaffer and Luke work tirelessly to get the right things into us in training so we all have the right understanding. They have had the chance now too to bring in their own players so they can instil what they want into us in training.

"It's a process, we're still learning the new MK way. The lads are buying into it as well, so he's got a full squad here who believe in the staff. When you've got that, you've got all the ingredients to be as successful as you want."
