Neilson isn't getting carried away after Bury victory

Losing just once in September, away at Peterborough, goals from Osman Sow and Ethan Ebanks-Landell saw Dons climb to 10th in League 1, along with a consummate performance at Gigg Lane.

The result made it three wins and a draw from the last four, but Neilson says if his side are to be considered title contenders, these are the sorts of games his side should be winning.

"I'm happy but this is just another result. You can't rest on your laurels, so we come in tomorrow and keep on pushing," he said.

"I'm delighted with our start. We came here, passed it really well. We took the lead and weather the storm at the end of the first half. But all in all, it's a good three points. We've got to build on this good period we've had.

"We knew the second goal would be key. It's hard to close Bury down when they get into their stride and we did for periods, but then we began to sit off. They changed their shape a couple of times, but they didn't have many clear-cut chances in the end.

"It's a great result, and I'm really pleased, but if we want to be where we want to be, today is a game we had to win. And we've done it. Now we need to do it on Tuesday and then again on Saturday at Stadium MK.

"We knew coming here, although they're not in a good place in the league, they've got some good players here, and the front three is up there with the best in League 1, so we knew we've have to be good defensively.

"I was really pleased with the guys who came off the bench too. The strongest team - is it the starting team or the finishing team? It's difficult to tell at the moment because we've got a really strong bench."
