Laurie Walker is likely to sign a new deal at MK Dons this week according to Russell Martin, with more incoming transfers on the horizon.

The goalkeeper was signed as third choice by Paul Tisdale last season, and though he never made a first-team appearance, instead playing reserves games and on loan in the non-leagues, Martin says he is eager to hold on to the 30-year-old.

"We're hoping Laurie Walker will be done this week," he said. "He plays a really big part in our squad. He's great in training, his professionalism is superb, he's a good guy. There's a real mutual respect with him and the guys too."

After the signings of Carlton Morris, Daniel Harvie and Richard Keogh so far, Martin also said he hopes to get a deal done for Joe Mason this week to return. And in terms of new faces heading to Stadium MK, the manager says he hopes to get some more business done soon.

He said: "We're still working on a few other things, I just don't know when they will drop and land, but I'm hoping to get a few more bodies in in the next few weeks."
