Andrew Fisher has signed a new, extended contract less than six months after joining the club.

The goalkeeper signed from Blackburn in the summer after a loan spell from January to March of 2020, and was soon promoted to the number one spot. Now Dons' regular keeper in League One, Fisher has made 16 appearances for Dons, keeping five clean sheets.

Despite the 3-1 scoreline, Fisher was man of the match against Fleetwood on Tuesday night, making a string of important saves to ensure the win at Stadium MK.

“I’m delighted to sign this new contract,” Fisher said. “I jumped at the gun when it was brought up.

“I came here to kick-start my career and I couldn’t ask for a better coaching staff and team of players to do that with.

“The way we play suits me perfectly. I like the pressure and responsibility that is put on me in this team and I feel like it brings the best out of me.”

Goalkeeper Coach Dean Thornton added: “Fish is a top, top goalkeeper for this level and I think he certainly has room to grow even further.

“He took a big pay cut to come here from Blackburn Rovers and be a part of our team. He’s rewarded us with his performances and now it was our turn to reward him.

“He’s been fantastic within the goalkeeper union as well as for the whole team. His performances this season have shown us what he’s all about, particularly against Fleetwood Town, where he kept us in the game."
