New signings are '˜a long way off' says Robbo

Any new signings are still '˜a long way off' according to Dons manager Karl Robinson.

Having lost 13 players over the summer, Robinson has only recruited three so far, leaving his squad looking desperately bare.

Still short a striker, a couple of wingers and some defensive cover, Robinson admitted money isn’t the issue at the moment after being given one of the biggest League 1 budgets he has ever had.

However, despite his lack of progress, Robinson isn’t ready to switch to Plan B yet.

“We’re still a long way off, if I’m being honest,” he said. “We’re getting close but never close enough.

“The chairman has admitted I’ve got one of the biggest budget I’ve ever had in League 1, and we are bidding for players. But no-one is coming back to us accepting or not accepting.

“So we’re having to wait and see whether it’s enough or not enough. Money isn’t the issue at the moment, but finding the right players is.

“All of my time is spent on the phone to find the right players. But if we get down the line and can’t land our targets, we have to go to Plan B. But I’m not going to Plan B yet.

“I could bring in good squad players, I could have four or five by tomorrow if that’s what people want. We cleared a lot of those out last season, but we weren’t in the relegation zone when those players were in the squad. So we need to be careful who we criticise.”
