NEWPORT Pagnell Town already know their first three opponents in this season’s FA Cup with Budweiser, and their road to potential glory looks a bumpy one.
The Swans, whose United Counties League Premier Division fixtures are not even released yet, will kick-off their campaign with a trip to Reading Town in the extra preliminary round on Saturday, August 11.
Should they win through, Darren Lynch’s side will then host either Ardley United or Holyport at Willen Road in the preliminary round on August 25.
And should they progress again, a trip to either Wokingham & Emmbrook, Camberley Town or Chalfont St Peter awaits in the first qualifying round on September 8. Winning all three rounds would see the club pocket almost £6,000 in prize money.
The Swans have a proud history in the FA Cup, but last season were knocked out of the competition at the preliminary round stage, losing on penalties away to Thame United. The 2010/11 season saw them reach the first qualifying round where they were knocked out 4-1 by Canvey Island in Essex.
They play their first pre-season friendly at home to Daventry Town on Tuesday, July 24, before hosting Bedford United (July 27), Blue Square North new boys Oxford City (July 31) and Crawley Green – managed by former boss Terry Shrieves – on Saturday, August 4.
