A sluggish start to the match saw Newport’s 11 match unbeaten run come crashing down as Nirvana raced into a 2-0 lead.

The Swans were back in it on the half hour mark though when Luke Emery poked home past Aaron Harris. But the game was put to bed eight minutes later when James Bassey-Saldanha netted his second of the afternoon to give the home side a 3-1 lead.

Dom Lawless came close in the second half, but the damage had been done.

Tuesday night’s fixture against Cogenhoe United was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch at Willen Road.
