No Dean Lewington stand at MK Dons?

"We don't really have stands!"

Dean Lewington is likely to be Dons' all-time leading appearance maker, but he probably won't get a stand at Stadium MK named after him.

Dons chairman Pete Winkelman paid tribute to the left-back, who has spent his entire career at the club, but felt the layout of the stadium did lend itself well to having individual stands named.

However, Winkelman said Lewington's contribution to the club will be marked somewhere in the stadium, but would prefer for that to happen after his playing days are over.

The chairman said: "He's a very special person and footballer – there aren't many left in the world like him. He's stayed at one club, and had a lot of ups and downs. We don't really have stands though.

"Dean will be remembered in the stadium, but he's still playing! I don't want to talk about his legacy until it's appropriate."
