The pitch is not in great condition at Stadium MK, but the weekend's snow will not force Tuesday night's game between MK Dons and Charlton Athletic off.

The playing surface at MK1 is looking worse for wear at the moment, not helped much by the recent rainfall in Milton Keynes. But while the snow fell on Sunday, Dons groundstaff had the undersoil heating in operation to ensure the pitch remains in a playable condition for tomorrow night's match.

Russell Martin admitted though the state of the pitch is far from ideal, but said Dons are not alone in struggling with keeping a pristine playing surface.

"They’ve had the undersoil heating on so it’s clear," said manager Russell Martin. "I don’t want to moan about it and use it as an excuse. We’ve coped well so far and that’s going to have to continue. With what we’re building we cant have excuses. If that includes the pitch, then so be it.

"The players have got on with it and stick to what we do. The pitch at Peterborogh wasn’t ideal, and a few clubs are feeling the effects of not having the work in the summer. We’re one of them. It’s not ideal, we all know that, we have to deal with it though."
