No-one likes being substituted in the first half, but Lasse Sorensen said it is part and parcel of being a footballer.

The Dane, on loan from Stoke City, bounced back from the disappointment of being brought off after 32 minutes against Shrewsbury last Tuesday to put in two excellent performances since, both off the bench, against Barnet and Charlton Athletic.

Ironically, Sorensen replaced an injured Jordan Houghton after 12 minutes at The Hive on Sunday to put in a man of the match performance in the 1-0 win, and then backed up his showing with an assist for Scott Fraser to see Dons past Charlton three days later.

Sorensen said being substituted for tactical reasons is part and parcel of being a footballer, and he had to take it on the chin but felt his subsequent performances have shown what he can do.

He said: "I got subbed off and it wasn't nice – no-one wants that as a footballer. But sometime the game isn't going the way we planned and the manager had to make a chance.

"As it was tactical, you just have to get on with it, that's what happens in football. It won't be the last time it happens either, but that's football sometimes. You just move on from it.

"I've been happy with my performances generally. I always want to do my best. Against Barnet I played as defensive midfielder, and I was an eight against Charlton. No matter where I play, I'm just trying to do my best."

Despite losing just one of their last seven in League One, Dons are 17th in the table but after wins over Sunderland and Charlton recently, Sorensen believes the squad is beginning to show what they are capable of.

"I really like it, I really enjoy it," he continued. "I like all the boys and we have a good connection all the way through the team. I really like the coaching staff too, trying to make us better and the way the club works.

"I think we're still a new squad, so at the beginning it's always harder. I'm not saying we didn't click but we had to get used to each other and you can see us getting more relaxed and used to each other and it makes it a bit easier when you know each other a bit more. And you can see that now and we can keep improving which you always want to do."
