No reason why Dons can't put together a Rotherham run - Robbo

Despite failing to win back-to-back games all season, Karl Robinson feels there is no why Dons can’t go undefeated for the remainder of the season and avoid a drop back to League 1.

Rotherham, under Neil Warnock, have gone from relegation favourites to the Championship’s form side, picking up 17 points from 21, dragging themselves out of the drop zone to sit six points clear of Dons ahead of their trip to stadium:mk on Saturday.

And given the Millers’ remarkable run, Robinson says there’s no reason why his side can’t go out and replicate it themselves.

“We can take belief from what they’ve done,” he said. “If Rotherham can do it, this miracle, then we can do it, win that many games and get ourselves out of it.

“Of the games we’ve got left, only Sheffield Wednesday are in the top six. We could quite easily go and win all of them.

“After this game, there are still 15 points to play for. If people want to see the gap as nine points after Saturday, it could quiet easily be three with 15 points still to get. It sounds better and I can assure you it’ll be easier.

“Talk is cheap now, it’s about what we do. Everything goes into the bin, this is about guts, determination and desire. This is a fight.”

Should Rotherham leave stadium:mk with win on Saturday, Dons could be cast nine points adrift in the race for safety, heaping huge importance on the game for both sides.

Robinson though is adamant that the game is just as important to win as every other has been this season, though he admits the result will go a long way in determining which division Dons will be playing in come August.

He said: “We know Saturday has the potential to determine what we’re doing next year.

“They’ve all been must wins, there’s no other way of looking at it. We’re going into a hard game, and we know how hard we’re going to have to work. It’s as black and white as it’s going to get.

“Because we’ve been so close this year, the expectation has risen. We’ve come so far, and there have been moments we’ve been proud of but we have to take stock of where we are.

“There’s a sense of pride in what we’ve achieved, but equally there’s a sense of frustration. But now’s the time to stand up and be counted, walking the walk.

“We have to eradicate fear and nervousness. The tension around here has been heightened this week. It’s about desire now. It will be a feisty game.”
