IT’S been a disappointing week for local football sides, not just because of games being called off due to the rain, but also because of bad results on those pitches that were playable.
Newport Pagnell Town’s poor run of form continued with a 1-0 defeat to United Counties League Premier Division title chasers Holbeach United on Saturday.
The Swans were then due to visit another side pushing for promotion in St Ives Town on Tuesday night, but that trip was cancelled due to a waterlogged pitch.
Olney Town managed to get their game at home to Eynesbury Rovers played, but unfortunately it ended in a 2-0 defeat.
Wolverton Town were knocked out of the South Midlands League Challenge Trophy with a 2-1 second round defeat to Buckingham Athletic.
Meanwhile Old Bradwell United were knocked out of the Feeder Leagues Trophy as they went down 4-2 to Letchworth Garden City in the second round.
With the weather set to go from wet to freezing cold in the next few days, more postponed games are a possibility. But if all goes to plan on Saturday then Newport Pagnell will visit Blackstones, while Olney Town get another shot at Eynesbury Rovers – this time away from home.
Stony Stratford Town host Amersham Town, New Bradwell St Peter entertain Codicote, Cranfield United welcome Chesham United Reserves, and Old Bradwell United go to Wolverton Town.
