Loan pair Hiram Boateng and Sam Nombe won't be a part of MK Dons plans next season despite having time remaining on their contracts.

Boateng could help steer Cambridge United to promotion to League One on Saturday having made 27 appearances for the U's since joining them on loan this season.

Nombe meanwhile has struggled for game time since joining Championship side Luton Town on loan with a view to a permanent move. However, it looks increasingly unlikely the Hatters will sign the striker, making just 12 outings this season for them.

Though contracted at Stadium MK for next season, Russell Martin has no plans for them to be a part of his squad next season and will discuss the future with each of them in due course.

"I don't think their position here really changes, being completely honest," he said. "We'll have a sit down with them but long term, I don't see them as part of the current team or squad in terms of fit. But they're both great lads, both really good players and can contribute to teams as Hiram has done this season. Certain people fit certain styles and systems. But football is about timing.

"Hiram has had a great season at Cambridge, and I hope he can achieve promotion with them on Saturday. He has done brilliantly. Sam has had a frustrating one at Luton. They're both great guys who we'll be rooting for."
