North Bucks League round-up: Loughton slip up as City Colts win again

LOUGHTON Manor lost ground on the Premier Division leaders when they suffered a shock 2-1 defeat to Silverstone, while rivals Great Horwood, Potterspury and City Colts all won again.

Loughton’s defeat was just their second in eight games, but has seen the drop to fourth place, now seven points behind leaders Great Horwood who beat Brackley Sports 2-0.

Potterspury saw off Grendon Rangers 2-1 and City Colts beat Southcott Village 3-1. Elsewhere MK Titans lost 4-0 to Thornborough and Great Linford beat Yardley Gobion 3-1.

Bow Brickhill’s fantastic Intermediate Division run finally came to an end as they lost 3-1 to local rivals Woburn Sands Wanderers, but remain top on goal difference.

Woburn sit third in the table, level on points with Brickhill and Buckingham Town Res who beat Wicken Sports 5-4. Brickhill had won all seven of their previous games.

At the bottom, Wolverton Town Res were on the end of a 4-1 defeat to Deanshanger Athletic, while Denbigh Hall Sports enjoyed a good 4-2 win over Brackley Sports Res, AFC Santander thrashed Potterspury Res 5-1 and City Colts Res drew 1-1 with Syresham.

Their first team may have lost their 100 per cent record, but Bow Brickhill Res made it a fantastic 10 out of 10 in Division One when they beat Marsh Gibbon 2-1 to go 14 points clear at the top.

Stoke Hammond look like one of the few sides capable of challenging Brickhill this season – they sit third after a 3-2 win over Olney.

Elsewhere Cage Athletic beat Charlton & District 2-1, Great Linford Res edged a 13-goal thriller against Syresham Res, Woughton saw off Wicken Sports Res 5-4 and Bletchley Bridge remain bottom after a 3-1 defeat to Stewkley Res.

Scot Youth climbed to the top of Division Two courtesy of a 3-1 victory over Hanslope Res, while Great Horwood Res beat Marsh Gibbon Res 5-1 and previous leaders Comet MK had the weekend off.

Meanwhile MK Wanderers ‘A’ thumped Steeple Claydon 4-1, St George’s lost 7-2 to Wing Village and Stantonbury Social Elite beat Yardley Gobion Res 5-1.
