Olney beat promotion rivals to stay in the hunt

Olney Town kept up their chances of promotion with a 3-2 win over rivals Bugbrooke St Michael.

Goals from Aaron Murrell, Vinny Shrieves and Drew Mitten secured the win for the Nurserymen, who remain third in the table, but closed the gap dramatically to Bugrooke above them, and are now just four points adrift with a game in hand.

New Bradwell St Peter lost ground in SSML Division 2 by losing the derby to Old Bradwell United last Tuesday.

Tommy Cooke scored the only goal of the game in the first half to take the victory as St Peter slipped to sixth.

Old Bradwell though couldn’t keep their winning streak going as they were knocked out of the Anagram Records Trophy after a penalty shootout against British Airways (Sat), following a 3-3 draw, going down 3-2 on spot kicks.

Loughton Manor however progressed in the competition after beating Manford Way 1-0 thanks to Ricki Wigg-Booden’s strike.
