It has been a long time without regular football for Matt O'Riley, so scoring his first MK Dons goal in his second appearance for the club was a great feeling for him.

Netting the opener in the 2-0 win over AFC Wimbledon at Plough Lane, O'Riley slotted home Cameron Jerome's cross on 59 minutes, just three minutes before Matthew Sorinola's stunner made it 2-0 to wrap up the result.

Having trained with Dons for six months after leaving Fulham last summer, O'Riley only signed a contract with the club last week and after making his debut against Charlton on Tuesday, he was relieved and delighted netting in his second outing

"I'm delighted - I cannot tell you how happy I am," he said afterwards. "When it went in, the feeling was incredible. I'm so happy to be here.

"(Jerome) said he knew I was going to be there, and I knew he'd put it there. We had that connection which worked really well. We've worked on those patterns in training so it has been easy to transition it into games. All those little details in training are really important.

"It was amazing for me and the team. In the first half, we worked them well. We didn't play our best, but the game plan worked really well. They tired, so we found spaces in that second half. It was a good team goal, Cammy found me in the middle, so I'm really happy."

After his goal, Sorinola's strike made it comfortable for the visitors in the final half an hour.

O'Riley continued: "It was a relief when the second goal went in because we knew we could play our game and manage it. At 1-0, there's always a chance they could to nick a goal from a set-piece.

"The aim is to build on this and win a few on the bounce. We've capable of doing that, and with two games in a week, it's a perfect opportunity to do that."
