Shrewsbury assistant manager Aaron Wilbraham said his side executed their game plan to the letter as they thumped MK Dons 4-2 on Tuesday night.

Wilbraham took charge in the dugout against Dons with manager Steve Cotterill recovering from Covid-19, and oversaw his side 3-0 to the good inside just 19 minutes as Sean Goss netted early before penalties from Ollie Norburn and Curtis Main.

Despite Will Grigg getting one back, Goss added his second just before the hour mark. Charlie Brown got his second in two games late on for Dons.

Speaking afterwards, Wilbrham - who scored 57 goals for MK Dons and remains the club's second all-time leading scorer - said: “It was a great team performance. Our plan worked. The gaffer gives us the detail for the game plan and we all worked hard to do it.

“The boys work rate, discipline and decision making - everything we talked about was perfect.

“We could have got more goals and that is because it was a great team performance with everybody working hard for one another.

“We were still unhappy with the goals we conceded and the manager touched on that post-match.

“We know MK are going to try and dominate possession and they make you do a lot of running.

“But we knew we would create chances if we stuck to the game plan, were disciplined and backed each other up on the counter-attack.”
