Scott Fraser netted his second goal in as many games as MK Dons and AFC Wimbledon shared the spoils in an ugly 1-1 draw at Stadium MK.

Joe Pigott's 10th-minute opener was quickly cancelled out by Fraser, who poked home Cameron Jerome's cross three minutes later to set up what threatened to be a thriller between the rivals, but it never progressed.

Chances were precious few for both sides, but it was the visitors who forced the better saves with Andrew Fisher twice denying AFC Wimbledon with excellent saves.

The draw means Dons drop down to 19th in the standings before Tuesday's trip to Northampton,

Having said he does not like having to constantly chop and rotate his team, Russell Martin named an unchanged line-up for the first time this season, sticking with the same 11 which started against Wigan on Tuesday night.

Conceding early goals has been a thorn in Dons' side all season, so there was an air of added frustration when AFC Wimbledon took the lead after just 10 minutes, having provided precious little threat until that point. A long ball over the top was aimed at Joe Pigott and after he out-muscled Warren O'Hora, he rounded Andrew Fisher and pokes into the empty net to give AFC Wimbledon the lead.

The lead though would last just three minutes as MK Dons provided the perfect response when Scott Fraser fired in Cameron Jerome's cross from close range to equalise.

Despite Dons' bounce after the equaliser, it was the visitors who came closest to retaking the lead when Pigott again caused the defence problems, dipping his header just wide of the mark.

Neither side though could really get control of the game though, and the excitement of those early exchanges quickly fizzled. Play was bitty and squandered in the final third, with Fisher nor Connal Trueman in the AFC Wimbledon net really troubled.

But the Dons keeper was called into action early in the second period when he acrobatically kept out Steve Seddon's header but it was more of the same from both sides as the game stammered and stumbled to find a gear.

With the sniff of points there for both sides, Fisher was once again on hand to deny the visitors a winner with 15 minutes to go with a brilliant one-handed save to keep out Pigott, while at the other end, Regan Poole ghosted in behind the AFC Wimbledon defence but opted to cut it back rather than test the keeper and it was routinely done so by the visiting back line.

Despite Dons' possession and territory in the closing stages and a string of corners, the deadlock remained as both sides settled for a point.
