A 93rd minute equaliser from defender Adam Pryke secured a share of the spoils for Newport Pagnell Town as they drew 1-1 with Desborough Town.
At a sodden Willen Road, Swans took a while to adjust to the conditions but were awarded a penalty after 17 minutes when Leo Adams handled in the box. But Dom Lawless saw his spot kick brilliant saved by Chris Jones.
Remy Forrester, Darryl Smith and Pryke all came close to opening the scoring as Desborough held on courtesy of the heroic Jones between the posts.
The second half provided much of the same as the home side pressed for the opener as Luke Emery fired over, before a move between Smith, debutant Ben Ford, Kelvin Osei-Addo and Smith again that carved out a chance that was finally thwarted by the ever-alert Jones.
With six minutes left on the clock Styles had a free kick on the by line, he put an old-fashioned daisy cutter of a kick towards goal that eluded everybody and found its way into the back of the net to give Desborough the lead.
Pryke, Stuart Smeathers and Osei-Addo had shots blocked as Desborough were forced into a rear-guard action as Newport went in search of an equaliser. Time was running out fast and it looked as if the Swans’ luck had run out as Greg Ling’s header was deflected just wide of the post but Sam O’Neill’s ensuing corner caused confusion in the Desborough defence before Pryke blasted the ball home to give Newport a deserved point.
