Reality is setting in for Dons and Keogh

Richard Keogh says Dons' position in League One is the reality of what they're facing at the moment.

Dons slumped to 23rd after back-to-back defeats against two sides who were below them a week ago - Oxford United and Blackpool. And with just one win to their name, they are level on points with bottom club Burton ahead of home games with Wigan and AFC Wimbledon at Stadium MK this week.

While their possession stats show they have had the majority of control in almost every game so far, Keogh says the reality of their 23rd place league position shows something has to change quickly to avoid being embroiled in a relegation scrap all season.

He said: "We are where we are, you might look at the way we play and think we shouldn't be there but the reality is we are. It's only down to us to change that. We've got two home games now, and our focus shifts to Tuesday. We have got to make sure we go into Tuesday and get a win.

"In general, we cannot keep coming in and saying the same things to each other. There has to be a moment when the players have to take responsibility, whether that's marking people in the box or something else. Our general play is very good, but we need to get the finer details correct. That's not through a lack of effort.

"As players, we have to take responsibility. We get all the information we need from the coaches, so when we cross the white line, we have to take responsibility and at the moment we're not doing that. It's costing us at the moment."

Blackpool had just two shots on target at Bloomfield Road, while Dons had just one themselves. The difference though was Sullay Kaikai's goal on 66 minutes as the Tangerines claimed all three points.

"We're defenders and we want to keep clean sheets, and it gives us a minimum of a point," Keogh continued. "I can't remember many shots on our goal again, but for whatever reason, that one chance they get, they're scoring at the moment. We have to stamp that out.

"It was a tight game, another team who has changed the way they play, they're a possession-style team too. But from what we've seen of them, they changed shape and the way they play to show us a bit of respect. There wasn't much in the game, and it was decided by a goal we should do better with. The minimum we should have got a 0-0.
