Reo-Coker debut would have sent 'wrong message' in finely poised Blackpool clash

The 33-year-old signed for the club on Thursday and was named on the substitute's bench for Saturday's game against the Seasiders.

But with the game finely poised at 0-0 as Dons sought a winner, Micciche opted to bring on more attacking options in Robbie Muirhead, Ike Ugbo and Brandon Thomas-Asante.

"I'd have liked to get Nigel on but I felt we wanted a goal," said the manager. "We were on the front foot and wanted to win it. It would have sent the wrong message I think, bringing him on, but he was excellent in the dressing room. He has been great in the three or four weeks he's been here."

Reo-Coker was part of the Wimbledon team which moved to Milton Keynes back in 2003, along with Dean Lewington, before moving to West Ham in 2004 before the club officially became MK Dons.

Lewington said Reo-Coker is a big character to add to the dressing room.

He said: "It has hurt my ears a bit - he doesn't stop talking! He's a good character, he makes people think. He provokes people, has a go at people, puts his arm around people and creates an atmosphere. I think he'll be a good addition."

With the addition of Reo-Coker, Dons have bolstered their midfield options, while they still have Callum Brittain to return from international duty too. And there was positive news about Scott Golbourne and Marcus Tavernier too.

Micciche added: "Scott Golbourne is training with us again. Callum has to come back, Tav is to come back too. They're getting back at the right time.

"Next week will be one of the hardest in terms of league selection so it's a nice headache to have."
