Robbo satisfied with a point for his '˜nervous' Dons

Record signing Kieran Agard went straight into the first team and made an immediate impact, netting both of Dons’ goals to reverse the arrears after an Ed Upson own goal and an Aiden O’Brien strike fired Neil Harris’ side into a two goal first half lead.

But half time came at the wrong time for them, and it allowed Millwall time to regroup and reorganise, and they were the better side in the second period.

“I thought in the first half we were by far the better team,” Robinson said. “Their goal came against the run of play, and then they hit us with another sucker blow. But we quickly got back into our stride.

“The first goal was disappointing for us. It ricochetted off Ed Upson which took it away from Nicky who couldn’t clear it. Then for the second goal we got overloaded, we had to shuffle across. It was disappointing, but we’ve worked on it and at half time they knew what they’d done wrong.

“In the second half, they were the better team and we looked really nervous. We should have had the energy and the legs.

“Millwall were favourites today, and they’re second favourites to win the league. This is their best team. I’ve still got four players out and two more I want to bring in. Kieran Agard hasn’t played 90 minutes for four weeks. Powelly has had baby this week, so he hasn’t slept for a few days.

“To come back from behind against a very good Millwall side is a very good result for me.”

Robinson heaped praise on his new goal-scorer Agard, but also on Nicky Maynard, Daniel Powell and 17-year-old second year scholar Brandon Thomas-Asante, who almost won the game for Dons with a fierce strike in the last minute to test Millwall keeper Jordan Archer.

“Kieran, Nicky (Maynard) and Powelly put so much running in,” Robinson said. “I felt sorry for Nicky because he got battered from pillar to post.

“We changed the system a bit to incorporate Kieran, as a narrow winger, but team might exploit that.

“He’s explosive, he’s brave, he’s a goal-scorer. He and Nicky are always a threat. And Powell was sensational in the first half today.

“And Brandon came on, and he looked impressive. Kids have no fear - what should be he scared of? He’s waiting for his driving licence to come! He’s 17-years-old and a footballer! It’s a great time for him.”
