Sanogo '˜should be banned for the rest of the season'

The on-loan Arsenal striker came off the bench for the Addicks, but saw red in stoppage time when he clashed with Kay while the pair waited for a late free kick to be taken.

A series of rash tackles from the home side had Robinson fuming on the touchline, but the Sanogo incident had him calling for the striker to be handed a significant ban.

“It was disgusting,” said Robinson afterwards. “He should be banned for the rest of the season for that. He’s clearly, off the ball, had a go and then a second one. It’s not acceptable. He could have broken his jaw.

“Rob Hall too was clotheslined on the far side of the pitch. Some of the tackles were borderline assault. I was expecting to see the police in the tunnel at full time to be honest.

“I know it’s about the fight, and about competing for survival in one of the most difficult leagues in Europe, but there has to be an element of control.

“Four years ago, I sent Gary MacKenzie into the press conference after he was sent off. We stood up on that day and took responsibility and said it wasn’t part of the game.

Their manager didn’t shake my hand until we were in the tunnel either, so it ended on a bitter note for me. But we were the better team.”

Despite the home crowd lifting Charlton in the latter stages, they never really caused Dons much threat, leaving Robinson to feel disappointment to come away from south London without all three points.

He said: “We should have won. We were excellent and dominated from the first whistle. We got in some great areas in the first half, but other than some horrific play from them, we looked very comfortable.

“We looked the better team, but we’re disappointed. We deserved a lot more than we got from the game. It would be hard to pick a bad player for us today, we’re just so disappointed not to have scored.”

But while Dons shared the points, Rotherham’s late winner at home to Middlesbrough brought Robinson’s side to within a point of the relegation zone once more, leading for a nervous final 10 games of the season.

“Everyone has come back to us in the table, but we just need to nick a few wins here and there,” he added. “We’re playing well and my players’ attitude has been excellent.

“We know it doesn’t come much harder than Saturday (Hull away).

“It’s going to be a rollercoaster. We’re MK Dons, we do it for rock n roll! It’ll be a great end to the season. We’re going to give this club every ounze of our lives.”
