Midfielder Andrew Surman looks set to return to action on Tuesday night after a stiff neck kept him out of the penalty shoot-out defeat to Burnley on Saturday.

The former Bournemouth man has made 11 appearances for Dons since signing in November, but was not a part of the squad at Turf Moor to take on the Premier League side in the FA Cup.

However, assistant manager Luke Williams confirmed the injury was a minor one, and he should be available again for Tuesday night's Papa John's Trophy game against Northampton Town.

He said: "Andrew had a stiff neck, which stopped him from being able to function properly, and put him at risk to a more serious injury if he tried to play. We've been able to loosen it up, and stop the spasm in there so he's ready to go."

Dons look set to be without David Kasumu, Louis Thompson, Jordan Houghton, Kieran Agard, Jay Bird and Warren O'Hora for the trip to the PTS Academy Stadium though, with academy players set again to make up the bench.

Williams continued: "There are guys at the moment who are on the treatment table and guys who have racked up a lot of minutes, so we need everybody to be ready. The young guys have shown they want the opportunity and are ready for it."
