Super Swans break St Ives hearts

Newport Pagnell Town’s fine end to the season continued on Saturday with a fantastic 3-1 away win at high-flying St Ives Town – handing the UCL Premier Division title to rivals Holbeach.

St Ives had only lost twice all season before the in-form Swans arrived in town, but a Jarod Cunniffe hat-trick gave the visitors all three points on a day to remember for Darren Lynch’s men.

St Ives went on to beat Holbeach on Tuesday night, but thanks to Newport, their win – in a game that was expected to decide the title – was in vain.

The Swans conclude their season with two home games, starting with the visit of Quorn this Saturday.

In South Midlands League Division One, Stony Stratford beat Langford 1-0 on Saturday before being held to a 0-0 draw by London Lions on Tuesday.

New Bradwell St Peter lost 3-2 to Kentish Town, while in Division Two Wolverton Town had a great week with wins over Pitstone & Ivinghoe and Mursley United respectively.
