Andrew Surman believes he can bring something different to MK Dons after signing a short-term contract with the club.

The 34-year-old former Bournemouth midfielder was released by the Cherries after six years in the summer, but has been training with them and nearby Luton Town recently while seeking out a new club.

He signs for Dons ahead of back-to-back home games against Hull and Shrewsbury, and could go straight into Russell Martin's squad for this weekend's game.

"I want to get on the ball and keep it moving," he said. "I want to impose my technical game on the match too. And I think I've come to the right place by the looks of it.

"It's the same brand of football I've known for six years Bournemouth, getting the ball down and playing, largely possession based. I think that's what I'm joining here at Dons, who play an exciting brand of football. Hopefully I can bring something to the team and improve it here.

"I'm delighted. It feels like a long time since I've been involved. I've been training with Bournemouth and a spell with Luton, but after I spoke to Russ and he asked me to join here for a few months, I was delighted for the opportunity and I'm delighted to be here."

Having trained with two Championship clubs in recent months, Surman says he is fit and ready to play, adding: "I'm looking forward to it, and training tomorrow, having my first session and hopefully my first game on Saturday against Hull.

"It's an incredible facility for League One – the stadium is massive! It's a great place to walk into.

"It has been such a strange time, with no fans being at the grounds but I hope we can put on a good show, get another good result and put us in a good position for when they come in.
