Swans' FA Vase dream is hit for six by South Shields

Four goals in the opening 20 minutes really put paid to the Swans' hopes of a semi-final spot, but in front of more than 3,000 people, they did have something to cheer when Elliot Sandy netted a consolation at the death.
Sandy thought he'd opened the scoring with a just a minute on the clock as he had the ball in the net, but play was called back for handball in the build-up. From there, it went downhill for Darren Lynch's side.

With only six minutes on the clock the hosts doubled their lead, Wayne Phillips hitting an unstoppable shot from distance.
Keeper Mark Osborn pulled off a good save to deny Craig Baxter but it was only a temporary stay of execution before Dylan Morse added a third as he rose, unopposed, to powerfully head home a corner kick.
With only a quarter of the tie played the Mariners asserted total control when Robert Briggs arrowed his shot home from outside the area to give them an unassailable 4-0 lead.

Newport finally got the reward that their spirit deserved when Elliott held the ball up in the area before curling the ball past the keeper in the final minute.
